Magnus Magnusson Smith (born Magnus Magnusson ; English Magnus Magnusson Smith , Isl. Magnus Magnusson , September 10, 1869 , Reykjavik - September 12, 1934 , Titusville ) - Canadian chess player of Icelandic origin ( Smith took his last name after moving to Canada ).

He lived in Winnipeg . Three times in a row (in 1899, 1904 and 1906) became the champion of Canada . In the period from 1905 to 1908. He was the editor of the chess department of the newspaper Winnipeg Free Press .
In 1907, he won the championship of the Brooklyn Chess Club. In 1910, he finally moved to Brooklyn . [1] In 1912 and 1913 twice won the championships of the Manhattan Chess Club .
Repeatedly participated in the US open championships . He participated in a strong tournament in New York (1911).
During his stay in Canada, he was also known as a good consultation player . Usually performed in tandem with C. Blake .
