In 2016 - elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
Scientific Activities
Main scientific results:
- the mechanisms of blockade of the ion channels of the glutamate receptors by organic cations of different structures were investigated, approaches were developed that allowed in vitro experiments to obtain characteristics of the action of blockers adequate to physiological and pathological conditions;
- investigated the structural determinants of blockade of ion channels of glutamate receptor subtypes and created models of these channels, with the help of which the directed design of new selective blocking compounds is carried out;
- The mechanisms of action and binding sites of pharmacologically significant compounds, such as tetrodotoxin and its analogs, mu-conotoxins, local anesthetics, batratotoxin, veratridine and their analogues, benzodiazipines, dihydropyridines and phenylalkylamines, have been investigated in the potential of controlled sodium, potassium and calcium channels;
- The specific potentiating and inhibiting effects of hydrophobic monoamines on proton-activated ion channels in the central nervous system have been discovered. Histamine has been shown to be a specific potentiator of one of the subtypes of these channels.
Conducts teaching, lecturing at St. Petersburg State University and in the IESE named after. IM Sechenov RAN.
