Corona Zener Diode

Zener diode SG307K, USSR, 1973
Zener diode SG301SK, USSR, 1984

Corona discharge zener diode is an ion gas discharge electric vacuum device designed to stabilize the voltage (400 V ... 30 kV) at low current consumption (several tens of microamps ) (to power a CRT , PMT , Geiger counters ). Filled with hydrogen under atmospheric pressure.

The corona discharge zener diode has a cylindrical coaxial shape. The outer cylindrical electrode is the cathode , and the inner is the anode . The stabilization voltage depends on the gas pressure.
