Description

The “Timonya” playing and dancing takes place in the Russian villages of the former Sudan district of the Kursk province (now Sudzhansky, Belovsky, Bolshesoldatsky districts of the Kursk region), where the tradition of ensemble playing the wind and string instruments - harmonica , balalaika and cobbles , as well as rattles [3] .

At the heart of the dance is a threefold rhythm step typical of the southern regions of Russia, one of the types of the Russian “fraction”. His rhythmic pattern is a triple division of 2/4 measures. Chanting him, as in Kamarinskaya , of a non-square structure, is three-six-sided.

The dance is a round dance ( karagod ) from a number of dancing groups moving in a circle, each of which consists of two or three women ("hens") and one man ("Timoni's rooster"). A man performs improvised movements in front of women imitating the movements of a rooster rooster (dia. Kochet ); while the musicians are located in the center of the round dance. In the dance, the restrained manner of women, based on the repetition of the same movements, contrasts sharply with the vivid improvisations of men and ends with the involvement of even musicians in the dance [4]
