Biography

Born on June 22, 1937 in Tbilisi, he moved to Moscow shortly after birth and after graduating from high school, in 1955 he entered the Moscow State Library , which he graduated in 1960 and entered graduate school there, which he graduated in 1967. In 1968 he defended his thesis. In 1966 he was hired by the GBL , where he worked until 1968. In 1968 he was hired by the Krasnodar State Electoral Institute, where he held the posts of teacher, associate professor, and headed the department of library science and bibliography. In 1974 he returned to the GBL (RSL) , where until 1994 he headed the department of systematic and subject catalogs. In 1994, he was elected to the position of Deputy Director. For a long time he developed the LBC and in 1997 was elected to the post of chief editor. Also known as a teacher, teaching at the Higher Library Courses of the RSL . Since 1998, he holds the position of professor at the Department of Library Studies and Informatics APRICT .

Scientific work

The main scientific works are devoted to librarianship in foreign countries, librarianship, the history of librarianship, cataloging, classification, standardization and terminology. The author of over 600 scientific papers, including state standards, practical and methodological manuals.

Interesting Facts

  • Eduard Sukiasyan is such a frequent guest at the Nekrasov Central Scientific Library for Science , where from time to time he gives lectures on library science and the LBC. He also lectured in Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Nicaragua and the USA.
