Aust ap Kadugan ( Wall. Awst ap Cadwgan ; 675 or 695 [1] -735) is the ruler of Brikheinyoga (approximately 720-735).

Biography
Aust is the youngest son of Kadugan , King Dywed , Istrad-Tiwi, and Briheinioga. In 710, his older brother Rain inherited his father in all possessions. In 720, the ruler of Keredigion, Seisill ap Klidog, seized Istrad-Tiwi from Rain and created the state of Seisilloug , thus cutting off Dived and Brihneiog from each other. In 720, Rain sent his brother Aust to rule in Briecheiog. In 730, Rain died and his eldest son, Theudos, became King of Dived. And the other son (or it is one and the same) Teudur , became co-ruler in Brikheiniog.
He is mentioned in the Book of Llandava as Augustus, father of Elgistil ( Elvistla ). Also there is mentioned Augustus, king of Briecheinog, with two sons, Elvid and Rivallon. They feature in two charters in which Aust is represented, transferring some property in Llangorst and Llanurwaet to the hands of the church. Witnesses are Bishop Eudogui et al. Wendy Davis believes that this is the same August and dates the event to 685. But Saint Euddogui died around the year 615 [2] . According to Peter Bartrum, August the father of Elvistl and August the father of Elvid and Rivallona are different personalities. Hugh Thomas suggested that the first Aust was the son of Kadugan. The second may have been the son of Rain Dremrid . [3]
He was succeeded by the throne, his son Elvistl.
