High School
Patton attended a school in northern Omaha ( Omaha, Nebraska ) [1] . He played for the Omaha Sports Academy at the AAU Children's Basketball Conference [2] . According to Scout.com, its rating was 5 stars. After school, Justin went to Creighton [3] .
Student career
Patton spent the year 2015 at the University of Creighton as a “ Redshirt ” [4] [5] . His trainer, Greg McDermott, chose the Redshirt strategy for various reasons. Patton was too young and needed to improve the game. In addition, Justin would have to spend little time on the site due to the presence of the main center Joff Grossel. McDermott was convinced that Patton needed to learn how to compete with other players at a similar level, and to learn the importance of proper nutrition and daily routines [6] . In his first college game in 2016, he scored 12 points and 8 rebounds [7] [8] . He set his season record of 25 points in a game against St. Johns College on January 4, 2017. After that, there were 13 consecutive games with double digits, until the loss on February 4, 2017 from Xavier University . After his first season, Patton was named the rookie of the year at the NCAA Eastern Conference [9] . On April 5, 2017, Patton refused college games, announced his intention to run for the 2017 NBA Draft, and entered into an agreement with an agent [10] .
NBA
Minnesota Timberwolves (2017-present)
In the draft, Patton was selected by the Chicago Bulls team under 16th overall number. Right after the draft, the rights to the player were transferred to the Minnesota Timberwolves club under a bilateral agreement between the clubs and the exchange of Jimmy Butler for Zach Lavigne , Chris Dunn and the right to draft Lauri McCanen . On July 4, 2017, Patton entered into an agreement with Timberwolves [11] . Patton was supposed to participate in the NBA summer league 2017 , but was injured during training (a broken left leg) and was immediately operated on, after which he was temporarily suspended for an indefinite period [12] . Justin made his debut on April 1, 2018 against Utah Jazz . His team lost 27 points, and it remained to play 3 minutes 44 seconds in the fourth quarter. Patton scored 2 points, made an interception [13] . On April 18, 2018, Justin underwent another surgery on his left leg to speed recovery from an injury last summer. The team announced that Patton was indefinitely suspended from playing for the club. The basketball player spent most of his debut season on the Iowa Wolves team, where he played 28 times in the starting lineup. The average performance for the game was 12.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 23.2 minutes [14] .
