Story
Carrie ( Claire Danes ) drops Franny at school and goes to a safe place where Saul ( Mandy Patinkin ) holds Dante ( Morgan Spector ). Carrie tries to interrogate Dante, but she fails to break him. When Dante asks for a lawyer, Carrie has an idea and she tells Saul, “He’s going to be a lawyer.” While this is happening, Franny, still traumatized by the events of last night, takes Maggie ( Amy Hargreaves ) from school. When Carrie returns home, Maggie says that the address and neglect of Franny by Carrie is completely cruel. Maggie puts an ultimatum: Carrie must be hospitalized immediately, or Maggie will seek custody of Franny. Carrie argues first, but then leaves and returns to her seat.
Senator Paley ( Dylan Baker ) is putting pressure on President Keane ( Elizabeth Marvel ) to resign, due to the upcoming testimony of Simon Martin ( Sandrine Holt ). Keen and Wellington ( Lineas Roach ) decide to lean on Russia through their ambassador ( Ilya Baskin ), threatening that Martin’s testimony will be considered a “hostile act” against the United States. The Russian leadership takes the threat seriously, and Yevgeny Gromov ( Costa Ronin ) is told that he must prevent Martin's testimony. Gromov tracks down the house where Martin is being held, and his people manage to distract the guards and escape with her. Gromov and Martin embrace and kiss when they are together again.
Dante's “lawyer” appears - in fact, a man impersonating a lawyer sent by Carrie and Saul. The lawyer asks Dante to sign some papers and leaves. Dante falls and shows signs of a heart attack. Seeing the ink on his hands, Dante realizes that he was poisoned the same way as McClendon, and tells Carrie that the Russians are responsible, while exposing Simon Martin. Carrie and Saul get the evidence they were looking for and then try to save Dante by giving him an antidote. Dante's heart stops temporarily, and his survival is questioned what becomes even more important for Saul and Carrie when they find out that Martin has run away, which means Dante is their only connection with the Russians.
