Terzerol ( him. Terzerol ) - a small muzzle-loading gun . There are single and double-barreled versions. From the 17th century, tercerols were made with a silicon lock , which in the 19th century was replaced by a more reliable capsule lock .
History
The oldest terzerols, similar in shape to their modern flint pistols, before the advent and distribution of revolvers served as an inexpensive alternative to holster and saddle guns. Because of its small size, this weapon was called a “ pocket pistol ” or a lady’s pistol, unlike the more common large pistols. The name "tercerol" comes from the Italian word Terzuolo ( hawk ). So called flintlock and blaster pistols, which had a specific location of the trigger inside the frame. Such locks, unlike conventional flintlock weapons, in which the lock details were located on the lock plate, had a more compact mechanism located inside the box-shaped case, similar to modern pistols. The simplest and usually more modern versions of capsule tertzerols usually served to scare away birds from orchards and vineyards, or for hunting.
Due to high demand, terceroli capsules, which were mainly produced in Zella-Melis and Liege , were manufactured by a large number of weapons companies in large quantities from the middle of the 19th century until the end of the 1930s. American derringer type pistol has a somewhat similar design.
