Fishman, Gerald

Gerald Fishman ( Gerald Jay (Jerry) Fishman , born February 10, 1943, St. Louis , Missouri) is an American astrophysicist, a specialist in the field of gamma astronomy . NASA Marshall Space Center employee. Winner of the Shao Prize (2011) - for his leadership in the study of gamma-ray bursts [1] .

He graduated with honors from the University of Missouri (Bachelor of Physics, 1963? 5). He received his Ph.D. in space science from Rice University in 1970. Then he entered the NASA Marshall Space Center.

Fello American Physical Society. Is Thomson / ISI Highly Cited .

Awarded the NASA Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award (1982, 1991, 1993) and the Bruno Rossi Award of the American Astronomical Society (1994).

The author of more than 200 scientific papers.

Married since 1967, two daughters, grandchildren.
