Gerald Fishman ( Gerald Jay (Jerry) Fishman , born February 10, 1943, St. Louis , Missouri) is an American astrophysicist, a specialist in the field of gamma astronomy . NASA Marshall Space Center employee. Winner of the Shao Prize (2011) - for his leadership in the study of gamma-ray bursts [1] .

He graduated with honors from the University of Missouri (Bachelor of Physics, 1963? 5). He received his Ph.D. in space science from Rice University in 1970. Then he entered the NASA Marshall Space Center.
