The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Catholic church located in the village of Shimoneli in the Smorgon district, 2 kilometers from the village of Nestanishki. Monument of architecture (1970s).
History
In 1497 , the construction of the parish church began at the expense of Bogdan Andrushkovich from Ponizhan. The first rector was appointed bishop of Vojtech Tabor priests Pavel from Poznan diocese.
During the Reformation, the church fell into disrepair.
In 1609 , the local population returned to the Catholic faith the Svir pleban Vojtech Kulchinsky.
In 1616 , the church was restored as a branch in the Svirsky parish.
During the Russian-Polish war in 1654 - 1657. the temple was destroyed.
In 1668 , the temple was again restored.
In 1746 , a new wooden church was built by the efforts of priest Pavel Yedlinsky, who made it the center of a new parish. According to the famous traveler and local historian Adam Kirkor , the temple was restored in 1749 through the efforts of priest Wojciech Kalchinsky.
In 1760 , Maximilian and Anastasia Rosenfelds donated funds for the construction of a side altar of God's guardianship.
In 1797 , the Infantian canon priests Peter-Anthony Kuchevsky (Kurchevsky) significantly reconstructed the temple.
In 1846 , the Nestanish rector was the acting Svir dean Felikst Skalishevsky [1] .
Through his efforts, the temple was reconstructed.
In 1855 , Adam Kirkor visited Nestanishki and came to the church holiday of St. Isidore, the patron saint of peasants. The holiday was held at the initiative of priest Novinsky. The festival was also attended by Prince Tadeusz Puzyna with his wife, writer Gabriela of Gunther. and also the altar fundator - Mrs. Matilda Buchinskaya . On the occasion of the holiday, a wooden altar was built with the icon of St. Isidore by the brush of the young Vilnius artist Karchevsky. The Vilnius Canon of Vilnius priests Lipnitsky delivered a solemn speech. For the holiday, Gabriella Puzyna wrote a litany and a song about St. Isidore [2] .
In 1904 - 1911 , priest Kazimir Tezhik was the head of the church.
On July 10, 1905 , relics of St. Isidore were brought to the temple from Madrid . On the same day, the priests solemnly consecrated the foundation of a new stone church (100 fathoms from the old wooden church).
In 1911 , the construction of a new neo-Gothic temple was completed.
July 10, 1912 Svirsky dean of priests Kazimir Valyunas consecrated the church in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Good Council.
In 1928 , the Vilnius Archbishop Romuald Yablzhikovsky made the church a secret .
In May 2004 , the icon and relics of St. Augustine of Czartoryski were brought to the church from Rome .
