Stephen Joseph Elledge (born August 7, 1956 , , Illinois , USA ) is an American molecular geneticist who specializes in DNA damage and cancer biology. Professor at Harvard Medical School , researcher (since 1993) [1] , member of the National Academy of Sciences (2003) and the United States Medical Academy .

In 1974 he entered chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied biology since 1978. Since 1984, a postdoc by at Stanford University. There, in the mid-1980s, Ellege dealt with DNA damage issues. Towards the end of the 1980s, he was observing this in yeast and focusing on this issue for the next two decades. He opened his own laboratory in 1989 at the . Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2003). Member of the Editorial Board of Cell .
Wife Mitzi Kuroda is also a geneticist, works at Harvard Medical School and in 2013 was elected a member of the NAS of the United States.
