Resusci Anne (Resurrect Anne), also a Rescue-Annie or CPR-Annie - a dummy used to teach cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The prototype of the mannequin was the well-known posthumous mask of an unknown girl who drowned in the Seine at the end of the 19th century. Its creator is the Norwegian , the owner of a large toy company.
In 1955, Lerdal saved the life of his drowning son by pulling him out of the water in time and making him artificial respiration [1] . Therefore, he eagerly responded when they turned to him with an order for a mannequin, necessary for learning the technique of cardiopulmonary resuscitation . Lerdal wanted to give the mannequin natural features; in addition, he believed that it would be more pleasant for trainees to work with a female mannequin. He remembered the mask of the Stranger hanging in the house of his grandparents, and he decided to give the mannequin its features [1] . The training mannequin was named Resusi Anne (“Resurrect Anna”). Such mannequins are widely used in teaching rescuers resuscitation methods - for example, the mouth-to-mouth method, in connection with which the drowned woman received the unofficial title of “the most kissed girl in the world” [1] [2] .
Initially, mannequins were quite primitive, but they served the purpose perfectly [3] . Over time, the models became more complicated and acquired more functionality. There are different varieties of Resusi Anne , serving for various purposes, but all of them are very credible [4] . According to official website, since 1960, Resusi Anne has been used in first aid training for more than 400 million people [5] .
