Biography

Born in a working class family. In 1916 he entered the two-year factory school, then reorganized into a seven-year school, from which he graduated in 1921.

In 1924-1925 - a loader, a worker of the Grigory Ivanovich Petrovsky Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Plant .

Since 1925 - at the Kamensky Metallurgical Plant named after Dzerzhinsky. He worked as a mechanic to repair metallurgical equipment.

After creating a metallurgical technical school at the plant, he entered the evening department. Soon the technical school was transformed into the Kamensky evening metallurgical institute named after Arsenichev, thanks to which he was able to get a higher education. During the period of training was transferred to work in the factory laboratory. In 1930 he graduated from the institute, receiving a degree in metallurgical engineering.

In 1930-1940 - the head of the domain group of the plant laboratory.

Member of the CPSU (b) since 1939 .

From January 1940 to July 1941 - Head of Blast Furnaces No. 1-6 of the blast furnace of the Dneprovsky Metallurgical Plant named after Dzerzhinsky of the Dnipropetrovsk Region.

During the Great Patriotic War, together with the company was evacuated to the Urals, he worked in 1941-1943, the head of the blast furnace laboratory of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine, provided the production of high-quality pig iron.

In 1943 he returned to Dneprodzerzhinsk and from November 1943 until 1951 worked as the head of the blast furnace shop of the Dzerzhinsky Dneprovsky Metallurgical Plant. Already in September 1944, two blast furnaces were put into operation.

Was an active rationalizer. Together with the team of authors, he became the inventor of the lime burning technology in the sinter production flow (POR machine). From 1944 to 1961, the economic effect of its inventions and rationalization proposals amounted to 11.5 million rubles.

In the years 1951-1954 - Chief Engineer of the Dzerzhinsky Metallurgical Plant named after Dzerzhinsky Dnipropetrovsk region.

In 1954-1962 - Director of the Dneprovsky Metallurgical Plant named after Dzerzhinsky Dnipropetrovsk region.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council dated July 19, 1958, Oreshkin Georgy Grigoryevich was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Sickle and Hammer gold medal for outstanding achievements in the development of ferrous metallurgy.

In 1962 he was dismissed from the post of director at his own request due to his state of health. For some time he worked in the domain group of the technical department.

On the instructions of the USSR Ministry of Ferrous Metallurgy, he traveled on long trips to the construction of metallurgical plants to Finland (chief engineer-consultant of the plant) and Egypt (Helwan Metallurgical Plant).

Author of many inventions, more than 50 publications, including the book "Rationalization of the work of blast furnaces" (1961).

Then - in retirement. He was buried in a village cemetery in the village of Shchebetovka near the town of Feodosiya in the Crimea.
