Biography

Ilya Lvovich Perlin was born in 1895. He graduated from the Moscow Mining Academy (1924). In 1923, while still a student, on the recommendation of T. M. Aleksenko-Serbin, he entered the Cable Plant named after Baskakova master, then became the head of the wire workshop. In 1923-1926 under the leadership of T.M. Aleksenko-Serbin at the State Cable Plant No. 2 named after Baskakova organized a pilot industrial production of tungsten and molybdenum metal, developed a technology for powder metallurgy of refractory metals and launched the production of tungsten and molybdenum wire for lamps and other electrical products. I.L. Perlin took an active part in organizing the country's first pilot production of refractory metals, designed equipment, mastered the technological process, in particular, the machining of tungsten and molybdenum [1] .

In the period from 1925 to 1947 he was in senior positions in industry. He devoted many years to teaching at the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold named after M.I. Kalinina . He was the first dean of the faculty of technology created in 1930. In 1948 he received the title of professor, in the same year he was elected head of the department "Metal forming". The department was headed until 1961 [2] .

He also lectured at the Institute of Steel and Alloys . Since 1961, after the transfer of the Institute of non-ferrous metals and gold to Krasnoyarsk, he was a professor at the Evening Metallurgical Institute . He worked at the Institute "Tsvetmetobrabotka" [3] .

He died in Moscow in 1977, was buried in the Vostryakovsky cemetery .

Scientific activity

He defended his doctoral dissertation in 1957, its basis was scientific research in the field of the theory of drawing non-ferrous metals and alloys. He is the creator of the theory of drawing non-ferrous metals and alloys and the theory of metal pressing. The author of the " Perlin formula ."

His main scientific works, such as "Theory of drawing" (1957), "Theory of metal pressing" (1964) and other works, are devoted to the same issues.
