Stockholm 1906 (chess tournament)

Stockholm 1906 is an international chess tournament held in Stockholm in February 1906.

The organizers of the competition managed to collect a good composition. Representatives of Austria-Hungary K. Schlechter and G. Marco, representatives of the German Empire J. Mises and G. Sühting, representative of the Russian Empire O. S. Bernshtein (already included in the number of winners of a major tournament in Coburg, were invited to participate) 1904), as well as the Dutch master R. Loman. Also, 6 Scandinavian chess players participated in the tournament: four Swedes and two Danes.

The tournament was reduced to Bernstein's pursuit of the leading Schlechter. After losing in the 4th round from Marco, the Russian chess player began to steadily gain points and in the last round he caught up with the Austrian grandmaster. Schlechter and Bernstein were one and a half points ahead of Mises, who finished in 3rd place. To achieve more, the German chess player was prevented by 2 defeats from outsiders. The best of the Scandinavians was Dane J. Möller, who shared 5–6 places.
