According to the 2011 census , 319 people lived in the village, of which 299 (93.7%) were Estonians [2] .
In 2000, there were 476 inhabitants in the village [3] .
As of January 1, 2018, there were 308 residents in the village [4] .
Description
Oizu village is located 12 kilometers southeast of the volost center - the city of Türi . It borders on the villages of Väliaotsa , Metsaküla , Retla , Saareotsa and Kärevere . Altitude - 66 meters [5] .
The village has Retla's main school (163 students in the 2002/2003 school year, 72 students in the 2009/2010 school year [6] ), a kindergarten, a People’s house, a library, a pharmacy and a post office. In the village is the center of the agricultural enterprise Estonia Ltd. ( Estonia OÜ ).
History
The first mention of a village on the site of the current village dates back to 1615 ( Oyes , Öysaby ) [6] [7] . In the 17th century, a manor was built on the site of the village [3] . In 1977, the settlement on the site of the manor was called the village of Oizu [6] .
In 1991 - 2005, the village was the administrative center of Oizu Parish . In Soviet times, the village was the central estate of one of the most successful socialist farms of the republic - the collective farm "Estonia" [8] .
Attractions
The attraction of the village is the conservation zone - Oizu Manor Park (3.6 hectares).
