Biography
Leve was a self-taught artist and studied business at an elite Graduate School of Economic and Commercial Sciences . He began drawing in 1991. [2] Leve made abstract paintings, but threw the case (while claiming that he burned most of the paintings) and took up a color photograph [3] on his return from a two-month trip to India in 1995.
His first book, Œuvres (2002), is an imaginary list of over 500 non-existent works of conceptual art , although some ideas were taken from later projects made by Leva (for example, from photo albums Amérique and Pornographie ).
Leve took a trip to the United States in 2002, writing Autoportrait and taking photos for the Amérique series, which depicts small American cities named after cities from other countries. [4] The autoportrait consists entirely of disjointed sentences not divided into paragraphs; This book tells about the author's judgments about himself and self-description, "a collection of fragments" of "literary cubism."
His latest book, Suicide , albeit fictional, talks about the suicide of his childhood friend 20 years ago, which he also mentions in "a small outrageous application, stuck carefree ... in the Autoportrait ." Leva delivered the manuscript to the publisher, and after 10 days committed suicide. He was 42 years old.
