It was founded in 1973 by Frank Robinson , a former employee of the Bell Helicopter and Hughes Helicopter Company .
The first helicopter was delivered in 1979 .
As of January 2017, 12,000 helicopters were produced. [one]
To date, three models are mass-produced:
- double R22 ,
- four-seater R44 ,
- five-seater R66 with Rolls-Royce RR300 engine - produced since 2010.
A distinctive feature of the produced helicopters is a two-blade rotor circuit located on a high rack above the cockpit.
In addition to helicopters, the company produces standardized Robinson Helipad helipads for installation on roofs of buildings.
