Hoston ^[1] ( africa. and English. Hawston ) is a village in the southwest of the Republic of South Africa , in the territory of the Western Cape . It is part of the Oberberch district . It is part of the local municipality of Offstrand .

Geographical position

The village is located in the southern part of the province, on the coast of the Harris Harbor of the Atlantic Ocean , at a distance of approximately 52 kilometers (in a straight line) southeast of Cape Town , the provincial capital. The absolute height is 16 meters above sea level ^[2] .

Climate

The climate of the village is subtropical Mediterranean . The average annual rainfall is 512 mm. Most rainfall occurs between April and October. The average maximum air temperature varies from 16.6 ° C (in July) to 25.7 ° C (in February). The coldest month of the year is July. The average minimum night temperature for this month is 7 ° C ^[3] .

Population

According to the official census of 2011, the population of Hoston was 8214 people, of which 48.6% were men, 51.4% were women. In racial terms, color made up 95.97% of the village population, blacks - 1.19%, whites - 0.38%, Asians (including Indians ) - 0.19%, representatives of other races - 2.26%. The most common languages among residents were: Afrikaans (95.33%) and English (3.46%) ^[4] .
