Alexey Timofeevich Dibrova (November 12, 1904 - January 21, 1973) - Soviet Ukrainian economic geographer, doctor of geographical sciences, professor at Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv ; developed a scheme of economic regions of the Ukrainian SSR based on the natural-historical features of the territory.

Biography
Born February 12, 1904 in the village of Tupichev (Gorodnyansky district) , Chernihiv region , in a family of employees. He studied at a secondary school in the city of Gorodnya , graduated from a special vocational school with an in-depth study of economics in 1922.
In 1927 he graduated with honors from the Kiev Cooperative Institute, in 1932 - graduate school of the Kharkov Research Institute of Geography and Cartography with a degree in Economic Geography.
In 1930-1933 he taught at the Kharkov Financial Institute and the Kharkov Institute of Trade. In 1933-1934 he worked as an assistant professor at the Pedagogical Institute , the Military-Political Academy in Leningrad .
In 1934-1941, a teacher at the Kiev Cooperative Institute. From 1934, he worked at Kiev University as an assistant professor in the Department of Economic Geography, and as head of the department of economic geography at the Research Institute of Geography (until 1937). In combination, he headed the Department of Economic Geography of the Kiev State Pedagogical Institute named after M. Gorky .
During the war, the scientist worked in evacuation. In 1941-1942, in the city of Stalingrad, he was the head of the Department of Economic Geography of the Pedagogical Institute , and in 1942-1943, the head of the Department of Economic Geography of the Pedagogical Institute and Associate Professor of Odessa University in Bayramali ( Turkmen SSR ), where these educational institutions were evacuated. In 1942-1943 he was on staff at Odessa University, but was recalled to Moscow , where he worked as an editor of geography textbooks at the Sovetskaya Shkola publishing house under the Ministry of Education of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1944, Alexei Dibrova returned to Kiev [1] .
In 1944-1947 he worked at Kiev University as a director of a research institute of geography. He headed the department of geography methodology of the Research Institute of Pedagogy of the Ukrainian SSR . In 1944-1956 he held the position of head of the department of economic geography of the Kiev Pedagogical Institute.
In 1959-1973 he was the head of the Department of Economic and Social Geography at Kiev University [2] . Candidate dissertation "Economic and geographical characteristics of Bessarabia (MARSR)" was defended in 1936. The doctoral dissertation "Geography of the Ukrainian SSR" was defended in 1959. He lectured in economic geography at the Faculty of Economics and the faculties of international relations and journalism at the University of Kiev. Specialist in the study of the geography of the economy of the state and its regions, economic zoning of the territory of the Ukrainian SSR, methods of teaching geography. He prepared ten candidates of science.
He was the editor of a number of geographical publications, in particular, in 1966-1972 - the interdepartmental collection "Economic Geography". The Dibrov textbook for the secondary school “Geography of the USSR” was reprinted 11 times, in particular in translation into Russian, Polish and Hungarian (1960-1971) [3] .
Alexey Dibrova died on January 21, 1973. He was buried in Kiev, at the Baykovsky cemetery .
