Biography
Born on August 20, 1921 in Riga , in a family of workers. Latvian . He graduated from high school in 1939 [1] .
He started sailing at the age of fourteen as a young man on a sailboat, then became a sailor . Before the start of World War II he entered the Naval College [2] .
In the period 1941-1942. served on military transport vessels. He took part in operations for the delivery of ammunition and food during the defense of the Oranienbaum bridgehead . Since 1943 he served in the Latvian headquarters of the partisan movement . He received several serious injuries.
After the liberation of the Latvian SSR during the Baltic operation , he entered the service of the Latvian Shipping Company . He worked as a junior and senior navigator . In the period from 1952 - 1956 . - Senior navigator and captain on fishing vessels.
In 1949 he graduated from the Navigation Department of the Riga Naval College .
In 1956, B.K. Kondrus joined the Estonian Shipping Company, whose crews he headed for two years. Since 1957 - member of the CPSU. In 1958 he returned to the Latvian Shipping Company, where until 1963 he was the captain of the Kotlas steamship. Under the leadership of Condrus, the ship’s team repeatedly sailed to Western Europe . From 1963 to 1984, he was captain on sea-going vessels flying to Africa and Southeast Asia .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 3, 1960, for the outstanding successes achieved in the development of sea transport, Kondrus Bruno Karlovich was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal "Hammer and Sickle" [3] .
He continued his career until 1984 as a captain-mentor of the Latvian Shipping Company, after which he went on a well-deserved rest. He lived in Riga.
