Biography
Born January 13 ( 25 ), 1807 [2] in the family of a priest of the Nizhny Novgorod province , in the village of Zverevo, Sergach Uyezd . He graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod Seminary and the St. Petersburg Theological Academy (issue 1831) and was appointed November 21, 1831 as a priest and law teacher at the St. Petersburg Mariinsky Institute , where he was until 1836, when he was appointed law teacher and priest to the St. Petersburg Technological Institute from July 16. . Also, in 1832-1869, he taught the Law of God at an auditing school (later a military law school , and then the Military Law Academy) and in 1835-1859 he taught the Divine Law to the pupils of the Midwifery Institute and corrected the requirements in a maternity hospital.
He was elevated to the rank of archpriest on October 24, 1846.
In 1866, he was transferred from the Church of the Technological Institute to a rector's position in the Ascension Parish Church . Since February 28, 1866, by decree of the Holy Synod, he was appointed a member of the St. Petersburg Theological Consistory .
As a shepherd, he won the love and respect of both parishioners and the clergy of the capital, who elected him in 1869 as confessor of the clergy of one of the deanery districts.
September 30, 1870 P. A. Lebedev was appointed rector of St. Isaac's Cathedral; On April 8, 1873, he received a miter, and on November 21, 1881, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the church’s ministry, Peter Lebedev the Highest was granted the Order of St. Anna of the 1st degree. In December 1870, Lebedev became a member of the guardianship of the poor clergy. During his ministry in St. Isaac's Cathedral in 1883, a free dining room was opened for the poor on voluntary contributions from parishioners.
P. A. Lebedev was one of the organizers of the publishing house “Department of St. Isaac's Cathedral”, which produced spiritual literature [2] .
He died on September 2 ( 14 ), 1884 . He was buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Oranienbaum (now Lomonosov ). Only the tombstone and fence have survived [2] .
