First Division of the World Ice Hockey Championship 2019 (Women)

The 2019 Women's Ice Hockey World Championship in Division I is the IIHF sponsored ice hockey competition to be held in 2019 . The venue was determined at the IIHF Annual Congress in May 2018.

Tournament Results

  • According to the results of the tournament in group A: the teams that took first and second places will have the opportunity to play in the top division of the 2020 World Cup .
  • As a result of the tournament in group A: the sixth-place team will move to play in group A of the first division of the 2020 World Cup .
  • According to the results of the tournament in group B: the team that won the first place will have the opportunity to play in group A of the first division of the 2020 World Cup .
  • Following the results of the tournament in group B: the sixth-place team will move to play in group A of the second division of the 2020 World Cup .

Group A

  •    Hungary entered the Top Division of the 2020 World Cup.
  •    Denmark entered the Top Division of the 2020 World Cup.
  •    Italy flew to group B in the first division of 2020.

Group B

  •    The Netherlands entered Group A of the first division of 2020.
  •    Latvia flew to group A of the second division of 2020.

Location Definitions

Venues for the tournament were determined at the IIHF annual congress, which took place in May 2018 during the World Cup .

The group A tournament was held in the capital of Hungary, Budapest, from April 7 to 13, 2019.

The group B tournament was held in the capital of China, Beijing, from April 6 to 12, 2019.

12 national teams took part in the championship - nine from Europe and three from Asia . The Netherlands team came from the second division , the rest - from the last tournament of the first division .
