Five rubles , or the semi-imperial of Peter III, is a gold coin of the Russian Empire with a face value of 5 rubles , minted in 1762 during the reign of Peter III at the St. Petersburg Mint . On the obverse of the coin is a portrait of the emperor in profile, on the reverse - a cross-shaped composition from the emblems of the Moscow , Kazan , Siberian and Astrakhan kingdoms with the emblem of the Russian Empire located in the center [1] [2] .

Description
The diameter of the semi-imperial made of 917 gold is 26.5 mm ; the mass of the coin is 8.28 g [3] .
Obverse
The obverse of the five-ruble coin depicts the right chest profile of Peter III . A wig with a scythe connected by a ribbon is put on his head. The emperor is dressed in a cuirass with an eagle on his chest, St. Andrew’s ribbon is thrown over his right shoulder, and the imperial mantle is lowered from his left shoulder.
Under the image of Peter III is the abbreviation "SPB" - a sign of the St. Petersburg Mint ; top in the circle of the coin - the inscription "PETR • III • B • M • IMP • ISAMODERZH • VSEROS" [4] .
Reverse
On the reverse of the semi-imperial, there are four patterned shields arranged crosswise. In the upper shield is the emblem of Moscow : in the scarlet field, George the Victorious on a horse with a spear defeats the winged dragon. The emblem of the Siberian kingdom is in the lower shield: two sables , depicted under the seven-pronged crown, standing on their hind legs, support the bow and two arrows pointing downwards. On the left shield is the coat of arms of the Astrakhan kingdom : in the blue field there is a seven-lip crown, under which the eastern sword is depicted. In the right shield is the emblem of the Kazan kingdom , which depicts a crowned dragon. Above the shield with the emblem of Moscow is the imperial crown; above the other three shields are five-pronged crowns. In the center of this composition is the Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire - a two-headed eagle crowned with three imperial crowns, which holds a scepter and a power in its paws. In the gaps formed by the peripheral shields, there are four flowers consisting of 8 petals each.
In the coin reverse circle, the inscription “MON • PRICE OF FIVE • RUB •” is placed on the left, and “IMPRSKAYA RUSSIA •” on the right. In the fields between the shields there are numbers indicating the year of coin minting: “1”, “7”, “6” and “2” [5] .
Edge
The semi-imperial of Peter III has a cord-shaped edge with a slope to the left [6] .
