General Information

A single tournament brought together almost all the elite. The five-time champion of the final tournament Serena Williams , who did not perform due to a shoulder injury, could not come to the tournament. Competitors were divided into two groups. The red group included the leader of the world ranking Angelica Kerber , the finalist of the 2014 tournament, Simone Halep , Madison Keyes and Dominic Tsibulkova . Last year's champion Agnieszka Radwanska , Carolina Plishkova , Garbinier Mugurus and Svetlana Kuznetsova played in the white group. In the red group, Kerber confirmed the status of the first seeding number and left the group in the semifinals, having won all three matches. From the second place from this group came No. 7 of the sowing of Dominik Tsibulkov, which went further in terms of additional indicators with the equality of points for three tennis players (one victory each). Svetlana Kuznetsova, who won two out of three matches, as well as Agnieszka Radwanska, who lost only Kuznetsova in the group, left the white group for the playoffs from the first place.

In one semifinal, the best seeding numbers for the tournament met: No. 1 Kerber and No. 2 Radvanskaya, and in the other the worst in seeding No. 7 Tsibulkova and No. 8 Kuznetsova. In the decisive match, German Kerber and Slovak Tsibulkova ended up. Both tennis players have not previously won the final tournament. Their final match ended in a victory for Dominica Tsibulkova. She became the first representative of Slovakia who managed to win the Final tournament in any category. The tournament regulations allowed Tsibulkova to win, despite two defeats during the competition.
