The main character of the game is Ultra Magnus . The titular Mystery is the personality of Optimus Prime (referred to in the title as “Convoy Killer”, since the Transformers cartoon of 1986 did not go out in Japan four years before 1970. Thus, the death of Optimus Prime was not adequately explained Japanese audience.

Although the name of the game is “Transformers: Secret” “Convoy”, “Convoy” is written as “Komvoy”.

Story

The plot in the game is mostly not, but the events of the game are narrated after the 1986 animated film of the same name . The cartoon details the final battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron , during which Optimus died. As a result, he passes the Leadership Matrix to Ultra Magnus before his death.

Gameplay

The player controls the Ultra Magnus, which must overcome 10 levels guarded by various Decepticons of enemies and defeat all bosses at the end of each level. He can transform into a truck, which from rare times helps him avoid enemy attacks, avoid bullets, drive through narrow entrances and shoot at enemies that fly over him. Along the way, he can also pick up various items that can give him wider firepower or the ability to fly. There are two secret zones in the game; they can be found by saving Bumblebee from the Decepticons.

Bosses at each level consist mainly of large Decepticon emblems in different color palettes or moons . The only "Deception", in fact, is the battle with Megatron, who for inexplicable reasons is the penultimate boss and Triptikon (known in Japan as a dinosaur), the last boss [3] .

Another in-game character in the game is Rodimus Prime , which can be unlocked by collecting letters that conjure Rodimus. Each of them is hidden one by one, sequentially at levels 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9. However, although its car mode has its own graphics, its robot mode sprites Ultra Magnus and Rodimus in the palette look the same.

Criticism

1UP.com called the game "the perfect example of shameless binding." He criticized the game for the high level of complexity, the implementation of the game for transformational ability, and the way the ninth stage is endlessly looped if you do not follow a certain pattern [3] .
