Born March 25, 1915 in Nakhichevan. From the age of 17 he worked as an electrician in the BaGES. He graduated from the Baku Evening College of Petroleum Engineering (1934) and the oil field faculty of the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute named after M. Azizbekova (1939, on the job).

Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1945

He worked in the following positions: oil production master, site head, engineer, chief engineer at the oil fields of Turkmenneft, Azneft and Permneft (since 1941 he was the head of the technical department, from 1942-1950 he was the chief engineer of the first oil field of the Krasnokamskneft trust), deputy minister of oil industry Azerbaijan SSR (1955-1959), general director of the association "Azneft" (1959-1962).

From February 1962 to March 1971, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan. Since 1971, he was the chief engineer and then - the general director of Azneft. Since March 1977, professor at the Department of Development and Operation of Oil and Gas Fields of Azneftekhim named after M. Azizbekova.

Since 1972 - chief editor of the journal "Azerbaijan Oil Economy".

Since 1959, Ph.D. ("Some issues of the operation of very deep wells"), in 1972 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Some problems of engineering and technology for the development and operation of deep and superdeep wells."

He was elected a delegate to the XXII Congress of the CPSU, congresses of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan, deputy of the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan. SSR 5-8 convocations.

Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1969 - for the creation and widespread introduction of systems and a set of tools for automating the oil fields of Azerbaijan) I.M. Gubkin. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, two orders of the Badge of Honor, medals, and the breastplate of the Honorary Oilman.

He died on February 12, 1979. The exploration vessel Ali Amirov was named in his honor.
