Final
The main competition in men's high jump was held on August 13, 2017 [5] . The main favorite of the final was considered to be the Qatari Mutaz Essa Barshim , who owned seven of the eight best results of the world season. He took all the heights up to 2.35 m inclusive on the first attempt, securing a landslide victory. Barshim, who has jumped 2.40 m and more in each summer season since 2013, having a personal record of 2.43 m (only world record holder Javier Sotomayor jumped higher in history), won the main start of the season for the first time. Prior to that, his best achievement was the silver medals of the 2013 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games . Only 20-year-old Russian Danil Lysenko , who acted as a neutral athlete, could impose a jumper from Qatar. He tried to take a height of 2.35 m, which is 1 cm higher than his personal record, but attempts were unsuccessful. However, at the first adult start in his career, Lysenko won a silver medal. Just for the third time in the history of the World Championships, attempts at 2.29 meters were enough for bronze - Majid Ghazal from Syria with this result closed the top three winners [6] .
