The real name Mitrofan, from childhood diminutively called Mitya, therefore, in some documents it is listed as Dmitry.

Born in Kharkiv in the village of Novo-Osinovka.

In the years 1923-1926 he worked on hiring fists. In 1928 he arrived in Donbass in search of a living.
