Biography

Nikolai Egorovich Lysov was born February 16, 1903 in the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo in the family of an employee.

He worked as a librarian in the city library, studied at the faculty of labor at the Moscow Institute of Mechanics and Electrical Engineering. M.V. Lomonosov. Later he worked in Leningrad at the Elektroapparat plant as an engineer, then as the head of a measuring laboratory. Enrolling to study at the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute (LETI) them. IN AND. Ulyanova (now St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University ) continued to work at the plant. After graduation in 1930, he received the qualification of an electrical engineer with a degree in Electrical Appliances.

In 1932, by order of the People's Commissariat of Labor, he was transferred to work at the Leningrad Institute of Telemechanics. While working at the institute, he simultaneously worked at LETI. In 1938, after defending his dissertation, he received the title of assistant professor.

In June 1942, N. E. Lysov was drafted into the ranks of the people's militia of the Red Army . In the same year, Candidate of Technical Sciences N. E. Lysov was sent to work at the Moscow Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. There, for participating in the development of instruments for naval artillery equipment, he was awarded the title of Stalin Prize laureate.

From 1946 until the end of his life he worked at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, was engaged in electromagnetic mechanisms in electrical devices. In 1955 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Heating of electrical contacts”, which gave the beginning of a scientific school at MPEI on electrical contacts.

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, for the power plants of autonomous power supply in the USSR, a need arose for electric devices for large currents, having small masses and dimensions, low power consumption and operating in extreme conditions. In 1960, N. E. Lysov headed the Department of Electrical Appliances. With his participation in the institute, a scientific group was created to develop magnetic semiconductor technology. Under the leadership of Nikolai Yegorovich, work was begun on liquid metal contacts and contact devices.

Research interests: development of liquid-metal contacts, devices for a double-rotation generator, current collection devices, composite liquid-metal contact materials; theory of non-stationary contact heating. At the scientific school on liquid metal contacts and contact devices at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Apparatus of MPEI, founded by Nikolai Egorovich Lysov, one doctoral and four master's theses were defended. Nikolai Lysov’s pupil was now Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RSFSR, professor of MPEI, laureate of the RF Government Prize Vladlen Gavrilovich Degtyar .

Nikolai Egorovich Lysov died in 1967 at the age of 64.
