Kup-Khol ( Tuv. Kөp khul ) is a lake in the Barun-Khemchik kozhuun of the Republic of Tuva .

Geographical position
The lake is located in the northwestern part of the republic, in the southwestern part of the Western Sayan on the Alash plateau . The lake is surrounded by a mountain tundra .
Geographical characteristics
The lake is located at an altitude of 2172 meters above sea level. It has an oval-triangular shape, the coastline is quite flat. The shallow banks, cut by the mouths of the streams flowing into the Kup-Khol, are slightly swampy. The length of the lake is 3.6 kilometers, width - 1.55 kilometers, area - 3.9 km², the maximum depth is 8 meters, the average is 5-6 meters. The water temperature in July reaches 15 ° C (at a depth of 5-6 meters). The bottom of the lake is relatively flat. By origin, the Kup-Khol lake is glacial , moraine-dammed type. In connection with the activity of the glacier, the bottom sediments of the lake are represented by boulder loams, among which well-washed sand and gravel deposits prevail, and inclusions of boulders, pebbles and clastic material are also present. In the shallow coastal part of the lake, the bed is pebbly; in the areas of the mouth of the streams, large inclusions of clay are observed. In the rest of the lake, the bed is clayey-clayey [2] [3] .
Tributaries and runoff
Many small streams flow into Kup-Khol. The catchment area of the reservoir is 27.7 km² [4] . The sewage lake, in the southeastern part of it flows the Ustyu-Ak-Oy River [3] .

According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Yenisei Basin District . The river basin of the lake is the Yenisei, the river sub-basin of the lake is the Yenisei between the confluence of the Greater and Lesser Yenisei and the confluence of the Angara , the water sector of the lake is the Yenisei from the source to the Sayano-Shushensky hydroelectric complex [4] .
