Center Activities

For 31 years, the Center has been compiling the Great Islamic Encyclopedia in Persian, Arabic and English. The activities of the Center are independent of the Great Islamic Encyclopedia Foundation. The Center’s first step in this direction was the compilation of the Great Islamic Encyclopedia. The practical implementation of this project began in 1984 , and gradually, as the library expanded, the scientific staff of the Center also increased, where a number of famous and young researchers were invited. More than 300 teachers, authors and researchers who are involved in the implementation of a wide variety of projects collaborate with the Center on an ongoing and temporary basis. Currently, work is underway on the following encyclopedias: Encyclopedia of Ancient Iran, Encyclopedia of Law, Encyclopedia of Languages and Dialects of Iran , Encyclopedia of Iran , Great Encyclopedia of Tehran, Encyclopedia of Iranian Culture, Encyclopedia of Art and Encyclopedia of the Persian Gulf . The General History of Iran in 20 volumes was also published. This grandiose work on a national scale, reflecting more than 3 thousand years of Iranian history, was written in the form of a serious scientific monograph for 14 years by a group of 170 outstanding specialists. At the same time, a group of more than 50 specialists wrote the General Geography of Iran [1] .
