The presidential elections in Indonesia were held in two rounds, held on July 5 and September 20, 2004. For the first time, the country's president was elected by direct vote of citizens. Candidates are allowed to nominate parties that receive at least 4% of the vote or receive at least 16 seats in parliamentary elections in April of the same year [1] .
