Club career

A native of , Cambridgeshire [2] . Pope attended Kings School in the nearby town of Ili. [3] Since childhood, he was a fan of Ipswich Town , being a holder of the club's seasonal membership, and also trained at his youth academy until the age of 16 [3] . After leaving the Ipswich Academy in 2008, he moved to the club, making his debut in the main team at the age of 16 [4] .

In May 2011, he joined the Charlton Athletic League 1 club, signing a two-year contract with the club [5] . On February 7, 2012, Pope signed a new two-year contract with the club [6] . He played his first match for Charlton (and the first in his professional career) on May 4, 2013, replacing the last round of the Championship against Bristol City in the game [7] . In September 2013, he signed a new three-year contract with Charlton. Charlton Athletic head coach commented on this event: “Good young British goalkeepers are few and far between. It seems to us that [Pope] is just like that, and he can become a very good goalkeeper ... Goalkeepers reach their best form with experience, but he already shows signs of real talent ” [8] . In the summer of 2014, Pope again signed a contract with the club, this time for a period of four years [9] .

As a Charlton player, Pope leased for , Welling United , Cambridge United , Aldershot Town , York City and Bury . In the 2014/15 season, Bury helped win a ticket to Ligue 1 , taking 3rd place in Ligue 2 .

On July 19, 2016, Nick Pope moved to the Burnley club, securing himself access to the Premier League . He signed a three-year contract with the club, the transfer amount was not disclosed [10] . On September 10, 2017, he made his debut in the Premier League, replacing Tom Heaton in the match against Crystal Palace in the 36th minute [11] . On September 16, he made his debut in the starting lineup of Burnley in the Premier League, playing in the match against Liverpool . The game ended in a draw 1: 1 (Pope missed a goal from Salah ), and Nick got high marks from commentators and from Burnley head coach Sean Deutsch [12] . On October 9, 2017, he signed a new contract with the club until 2020 [13] .
