The Academy of Arts of the Islamic Republic of Iran ( Pers. ΩΨ±ΩΩΪ―Ψ³ΨͺΨ§Ω ΩΨ± ) was founded in March 2000. It is one of the four academies of modern Iran . Besides it, there are the Academy of Sciences , the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Academy of Persian Language and Literature. This academy was established on the basis of a decree of the Supreme Council for the Cultural Revolution . The Academy of Arts is an institution that has the status of a legal entity and is subordinate to the president of the country. The purpose of the Academy was to preserve the cultural heritage, Islamic and national art, to offer strategies, gain access to the latest achievements and innovations, and also to increase the level of Islamic culture to counter the threats of the aggressor culture.
Duties of the Academy of Arts
1. Offer a strategy for the preservation and development of Islamic, national, and local art.
2. Cooperation with the institutions of religious education and religious scholars in order to identify the legal foundations of art.
3. The study and application of new theories of art based on the national-Islamic basis.
4. Support and encouragement of basic research, work on research projects in the field of art at the national level.
5. Proposal of a strategy on contacts of art history societies of the country with foreign colleagues.
6. Offering a strategy for popularizing art criticism and discussions about aesthetics.
7. Suggestions for defining development indicators in the field of art.
8. Annual assessment of indicators in the field of art of the country.
9. Conducting annual meetings devoted to various fields of art.
10. Study of the shortcomings of the country's education system in the field of art and the preparation of proposals to relevant state bodies.
11. Presentation to relevant centers of artists and researchers, as well as the creation of conditions for their use of training grants.
12. Support the compilation and translation of sources of art.
13. Proposal to the relevant centers of criteria for the presentation of awards in the field of art.
14. Awarding prizes to outstanding figures in the field of study, translation and artistic creation.

The duties of the General Assembly include: approval of scientific strategies and programs of the Academy, approval of regulations on the method of implementing the scientific activities of the Academy, election of artists represented by the top management of the Academy by a specialized council for receiving awards, awards, educational grants, medals, orders and research grants, as well as approval of new valid and honorary members.
4. President of the Academy of Arts.
The President of the Academy is elected for a term of 4 years from among its members on the proposal of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and is approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution and an order of the President of the country.

Each branch consists of several full members or corresponding members or experts appointed by the President of the Academy in accordance with their specialization.
Members of the Academy of Arts
The Academy of Arts includes full members, corresponding members and honorary members elected on the proposal of the High Council of the Cultural Revolution and after its approval or on the presentation of the Academy itself on the basis of certain scientific criteria.
The Academy consists of 30 full members elected from among representatives of the most diverse areas of art: 20 of them - on the proposal of the Council on Art and with the approval of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, 10 - based on scientific criteria approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution or the Academy itself. Their membership is for life. Corresponding members are elected for a period of 4 years: the continuation of their membership powers is possible through the procedure described above.
The election of honorary members is a tribute to the scientific merit of prominent foreign figures and researchers of art. There are no duties assigned to them at the Academy. Their membership is for life.

The building of the Academy of Arts is very beautiful in architectural terms: it involuntarily attracts the views of those passing by it. The style of this building is inspired by the architecture of the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic eras - it combines the features of the Achaemenid, Sassanian and Islamic architecture [2] .
