Building

The building has seven floors, built in the Stalinist Art Nouveau style , with the service station (Gosplan, Duma) in Moscow as a prototype [1] . Outside it is revetted with marble [2] . In front of the building is a large bed with red flowers, representing Kyrgyz-Soviet ties [3] . In 1985, the building was built as the headquarters of the CPSU Central Committee. On the front of the building is the coat of arms of Kyrgyzstan. There used to be a coat of arms of the Kyrgyz SSR.

Tulip Revolution

The Tulip Revolution refers to a series of protests that ultimately toppled President Askar Akayev and his government. On Thursday, March 24, 2005, protests rallied to Bishkek, where tens of thousands of people gathered in front of the White House. When security forces and pro-government provocateurs began to beat several young demonstrators, the main crowd closed ranks, a large number of people rushed past the security forces and burst into the government headquarters. Later, a compromise was found between the demonstrators and security officials, state duties were established, and the cavalry dispersed the crowd. President Akayev used this moment and fled with his family to Kazakhstan by helicopter, from where he then flew to Moscow. [four]

2010 Protests

The penetration of citizens into the White House after the protests in Bishkek on April 7.

In 2010, the building became a center of unrest . On April 7, protesters in Bishkek filled Ala-Too Square . They surrounded the White House. [5] [6] The police initially used non-lethal methods - tear gas, but after two trucks tried to ram the gate, they used firearms. [7] [8] At least forty-one protesters were killed in a subsequent engagement. [9] After a wave of protests subsided, the building was taken by the interim government. As a result of the riots, it was found that the fire that swept the building destroyed the state archives and records that were posted there. This destruction is likely to complicate the persecution of former President Kurmanbek Bakiev [10] .
