Route
The race started in Maastricht and finished in Berg-en-Terblidzht . The length of the route was 263 kilometers with 35 ascents [1] [2] [3] The route was similar to the previous year and represented four circles of different length that passed along the traditionally narrow roads of the Limburg region around Valkenburg . Only the last 16 km long lap has changed for the use of narrower roads.
The location of the finish line has not changed, in contrast to the profile of the last lap compared to previous years. The last climb to Cauberg, which had previously been located immediately before the finish, now passed at the end of the penultimate lap 18.9 km before the finish. The finish climb was Bemelerberg , 5.6 km before the end of the route.
Course of the race
Before the start of the race, athletes with a minute of silence honored the memory of the deceased a week ago in Paris - Rube, 2018 24-year-old rider Michael Golarts . [four]
