Biography
The son of a teacher-philologist.
From 1868 to 1873 he studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart . In trips to Europe (Italy and Greece) he acquired extensive architectural, historical and architectural knowledge. He worked at the Frankfurt Architectural Bureau.
In 1882 he became a professor at the Munich Technical University , in 1907 - the rector of the university.
Author of a number of architectural projects in various cities of Germany, including for the imperial family. Tirsch's most significant work is the Palace of Justice in Munich (completed in 1897). Among his other works are the Kurzal in Wiesbaden (1907), three bridges in Munich , several monuments, private houses, public buildings and much more. The author of the work Die Königsburg von Pergamon (1882).
Winner of several awards, including the first prize (1883) at an architectural competition related to the planned construction of the Reichstag building in Berlin (won with Paul Wallot ) and a small gold medal at the International Art Exhibition in Berlin (1896).
He was buried in the Waldfriedhof cemetery (Munich) .
