The crash of IL-76 near Bufarik is a major aviation accident that occurred on April 11, 2018 . Aircraft Il-76 , owned by the Algerian Air Force , crashed in the province of Blida . The victims of the crash were 257 people [1] .

The crash was the largest in the history of Algeria, ahead of the casualties of the Boeing 737 in Tamanrasset in March 2003 , and the largest in the world since the Boeing 777 in the Donetsk region in July 2014 . Also, the crash became the largest in the history of IL-76 after the crash in Iran near Kerman in February 2003 and the 20th in the number of victims in the history of aviation.

Aircraft
The aircraft was manufactured by the Chkalov Tashkent Aviation Production Association (TAPOiCH) in 1994 under serial number 92-03 and serial number 1043419649.
From December 2015 to September 2016 there was a major overhaul in the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Region.
Belonged to the Algerian Air Force .
Crew and passengers
On board there were 10 crew members and 247 passengers, mainly Algerian military personnel, and also among the passengers were 26 members of the POLISARIO Front [2] .
Timeline
The plane crashed at 08:00 local time [3] a few minutes after taking off from the airport of Bufarik , 30 km from the Algerian capital.
During take-off at an altitude of about 50 meters, the right wing console of the aircraft caught fire. The crew tried to return to the airfield and make an emergency landing. However, the plane crashed in the area of agricultural land, caught fire in a collision with the ground, and almost completely collapsed. All those on board died [4] .
