Biography

He was born on May 17, 1912 in the village of Getashen (now Chaikend, Goygol region of Azerbaijan).

In 1937 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History . In 1949 he graduated from the graduate school of philosophy at the Moscow State Department .

In 1937-1939 he worked as a teacher in the department of dialectical materialism of the Volgograd Pedagogical Institute . He participated in the Great Patriotic War . From September 1944 to February 1945 he was in the hospital after a second wound. [one]

After the war, in 1945-1947, he was a lecturer at the Department of Marxism-Leninism of the Air Force Academy.

From 1949 until the end of his life he worked at the Moscow Financial Institute (IFI, now Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation ), at the same time in 1949-1952 - head of the Department of Philosophy, Logic and Psychology of the All-Union Knowledge Society.

From 1952 to 1961 - Associate Professor of the Department of Marxism-Leninism of the IFI. In 1961-1988 - Head of the Department of Philosophy of the Financial Institute (in 1981-1984 - Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations); From 1989 to the end of his life, he was a professor at the Department of Philosophy. In 1975, being in office and. about. Professor, defended his doctoral dissertation, and he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy with the assignment of the academic title of Professor [2] .

Simonyan led the training of graduate students in philosophy and scientific communism. He was a permanent member of the dissertation council, specializing in Philosophy and Scientific Communism. He improved educational and methodical work, preparing methodological recommendations and developments on philosophy for students and graduate students, including programs and plans for seminars on philosophy [3] .

Ervand Arutyunovich was a member of the Methodological Council on the philosophy of the Knowledge society and a member of the bureau of the Moscow branch of the All-Union Philosophical Society. On the instructions of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education, he traveled with lectures on philosophy to foreign universities [2] .

The author of several works, including:

  • “Practice as a philosophical category” (1977),
  • “Relations of Marx and Lenin to the Hegelian interpretation of the unity of theory and practice” (1977),
  • “The unity of theory and practice (Philosophical analysis)” (1980),
  • “The gap between theory and practice in the activities of Stalin” (1996).

He died on September 29, 1996 in Moscow. He was buried in the columbarium of the Novodevichy cemetery near his relatives [4] [5] .

December 8, 2017 at the Financial University the grand opening of the nominal audience of the Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Yervand Harutyunovich Simonyan [6] took place .

Rewards

He was awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees, the Order of the Red Star and medals, including “For Courage” and “For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” [7]
