Biography
Soga no Iname was a representative of the aristocratic family of Soga and the first of the holders of the Oh-omi post, about which there is documentary information.
Soga no Iname is known as one of the most ardent supporters of Buddhism in the period when this religion was brought to Japan from Korea. Opponents of the new religion were Mononobe-no Okosi and Nakatami-no Kamako.
His daughters Kitashi-hime and Oane-no-kimi were the wives of Emperor Kimmei . Kitashi-hime became the mother of Emperor Yemei and Empress Suiko , Oane-no-kimi — the mother of Emperor Susyun .
