Iosif Ivanovich Zvarika ( Belorussian Іосіф Іванавіч Zvaryka ; 1915 - September 10, 1944 ) - Soviet intelligence during the Great Patriotic War, member of the reconnaissance and sabotage group "Jack" under the call sign "Walrus".

Biography

Born in the village of Diaghilno , in the Ruditsky volost of the Minsk district, now the Dzerzhinsky district of Belarus . Father died. Education: four classes of a rural school. He worked as a carpenter, and then as a foreman at one of the enterprises of the city of Lomza, Bialystok region of Belarus (now - the territory of Poland ), where he saw the beginning of the war .

Since December 10, 1942 - a fighter in a number of partisan formations subordinate to the Belarusian headquarters of the partisan movement, including the Kotovsky detachment and the Voroshilov brigade. May 3, 1943 - July 15, 1944 - A fighter of a special sabotage and reconnaissance group of the Reconnaissance Directorate of the headquarters of the Western and 3rd Belorussian fronts "The Seagull" of professional military intelligence captain Mikhail Ilyich Minakov, who, since August 1942, operated in the occupied territory of the Minsk region .

On the 20th of 1944 from the city of Dzerzhinsk , the district center of the Minsk region, where the Chaika reconnaissance group ended its military path and was disbanded due to the liberation of Belarus, Zvrika together with military comrades Pavel Krylatykh, Napoleon Ridevsky , Gennady Yushkevich and Vladimir Mikhalevich was recalled to Smolensk , in the apparatus of the Intelligence Directorate of the 3rd Belorussian Front, where on July 25 he received a new appointment - to the post of intelligence officer of the special sabotage and reconnaissance group Jack. He died on the night of September 10-11, 1944 in a battle near the East Prussian settlement Augstagirren [1] (now - the village of Sosnovka in the Polessky region ).
