History
In accordance with the Order of the Navy Code No. 0026 of 11/15/1939, the 2nd Mine-Torpedo Aviation Regiment was formed at the Sarabuz airfield. The 35th mine-torpedo aviation squadron is facing the formation of the regiment. The armament of the three squadrons of the regiment were planes DB-3 and DB-3F. The first commander of the regiment is Major Alexei G. Biba. The regiment became part of the 63rd long-range bomber air assault brigade of the Navy Air Force. With the beginning of the Soviet-Finnish war, several regiment crews in December 1939 were sent to the Baltic, where they took part in hostilities against Finland.

Fighting Regiment
On the night of June 22, 1941, the regiment was stationed at the aerodromes of dispersal for operational readiness No. 2. On June 22 and 24, the regiment airplanes raided the Romanian naval base Constanta. July 13, a raid on oil fields near the town of Ploiesti. On September 8 and 13, 1941, a 7 DB-3F regiment, commanded by the GSS, Major N. A. Tokarev, attacked enemy targets in the area of Bucharest.
Departures were practically without fighter cover. The regiment suffered heavy losses and on 30.09.1941, the regiment's remnants were taken to the airfields of Anapa and Krasnodar for rest and re-staffing. For large losses (more than half of the payroll) the regimental commander Bib A. A. was removed from his post, Major N. Tokarev was appointed instead.
Combat sorties resumed from mid-October 1941 from field airfields in the areas of the stanitsa of Crimea, Konstantinovskaya and Kurgan. From 03.12.41, several crews operated from the site of the Chersonesus Lighthouse near Sevastopol.
At the end of February 1942, by the order of the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, the regiment was transferred to a three-squadron squadron.
By order of the Tax Code of the Navy No. 73 of April 3, 2003, the 2nd Mine-Torpedo Aviation Regiment was transformed into the 5th Guards Mine-Torpedo Aviation Regiment of the Navy.
As of July 3, 1942, as part of the 5th Guards. MTAP on Aer. Maikop had 15 (11 serviceable) DB-3. On October 28, 1942, 11 Il-4 aircraft and 14 crews from the 36th MTAP, were sent to the regiment, departing for re-formation.
During the next period, the regiment delivered bomb strikes, conducted air reconnaissance, dropped cargo to the partisans. In February and March 1943, the crews of the regiment performed mine settings in the Kerch Strait. On March 13, bombing on the airfield of Bagerovo with incendiary ampoules was carried out.
As of March 25, 1943 as part of the 5th Guards. MTAP was registered 21/16 aircraft IL-4.
March 30 struck a bombing attack on the port of Sevastopol and ships.
In April, the replenishment arrived to the regiment - 9 crews from the Pacific Fleet Air Force, 4 regiment crews left for the Far East (rotated).
From 2 to 22 May, the crews of the regiment transferred 5 new IL-4 aircraft from the aircraft plant in Irkutsk. At this time, the crews are mainly engaged in mine setting. The laying of mines continued in the summer months.
In the first decade of September, the regiment provided military operations for the 18th Army and the Black Sea Fleet during the Novorossiysk landing operation. In the autumn, the regiment finally relocated to Gelendzhik Airport and was engaged in reconnaissance and violations of the enemy’s sea lanes. By the beginning of 1944, the regiment had 27 airplanes and 21 crews.

In April, the main task of the regiment was the blockade of the Crimean peninsula from the sea. In addition, the regiment continued to strike at enemy ships at sea and deliver weapons and food to the partisans. On April 18, several regiment crews performed an unusual task: delivering Il-4 aviation gasoline to Odessa for the 11th Guards. IAP, which was based at this time on the airfield School. In May 1944, the regiment crews worked on Sevastopol, striking the boats. During these flights, 11 aircraft and 8 crews were killed.
In the second half of May, the regiment returned to its pre-war Crimean airfield Sarabuz.
August 20, 1944 14 IL-4 of the 5th Guards. MTAP took part in the air operation to destroy enemy forces in the Constantza naval base. On August 21 the last combat sorties were made.
On November 7, 1944, for participating in a strike operation on Sulina and Konstanz, the regiment was given the honorary title "Konstanz".
Post-war regiment history
In the fall of 1944, the regiment flew over to the Saki airfield, and by January 1945 the regiment was based at the Sarabuz airfield.
From February 13 to April 15, 1945 on the basis of the 5th Guards. MTAP passed troop tests of a Tu-2T torpedo bomber.
At the end of 1947, on the basis of the NGS Navy Circular No. 0036 of 10/07/1947, the regiment was transferred to the four-squadron No. 98/705.
