General Information

A single tournament brought together almost all the elite. The leader of the world ranking and the winner of the last three years Serena Williams , who this year completed the season ahead of schedule, could not come to the tournament. Following Williams in the ranking of tennis players formed a list of participants and were divided into two groups. The red group included Simone Halep , Maria Sharapova (champion of the 2004 final tournament), Agnieszka Radwanska and Flavia Pennetta . Garbinier Mugurus , Petr Kvitova (champion of 2011), Angelica Kerber and Lucia Shafarzhova played in the white group. In the red group, Maria Sharapova won a landslide victory, and in the white Garbinier, Mugurus. Both tennis players won all three of their matches. To determine the second places in the groups, it was necessary to calculate additional indicators, since in each group three athletes had the same result: one victory with two defeats. In the red group, Agnieszka Radwanska found the best indicators, and in the white group Petra Kvitova.

In the semifinal meetings, both tennis players who won the group stage lost to their rivals. Sharapova lost to Kvitova, and Mugurus Radvanskaya. In the decisive match, Agnieszka outplayed Petra in three sets and for the first time in her career won the Final Competition. Radwanska also became the first representative of Poland to win the Final Tournament.
