Transelectrica is a Romanian electricity public company engaged in the production and distribution of electricity. It has its own listing of shares on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. It was founded in 2000. The shareholders of the company are the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business Environment of Romania (58.69%), the Romanian Property Fund (13.5%) and the Bucharest Stock Exchange and other investors (27.81%). It includes eight territorial branches and another department - the operator of accounting for electricity sold on the market. Subsidiaries are involved in various administrative matters.

Transelectrica is the first public company owned by a state with a listing of shares on the Bucharest Stock Exchange as part of the Powerful Market program launched by the Romanian Government in support of public companies in the capital market. The company's capitalization is approximately 1.1 billion euros .
Subsidiaries
- OPCOM (Operatorul Pietei de Energie Electrica) - approved by order No. 627/2000 as a subsidiary of Transelectrica. Provides the basis for concluding commercial agreements for the supply of electricity.
- SMART is a transmission network service company. Formed by the reorganization of Transelectrica in accordance with Decree No. 710/2001 as a fully owned industry. It is engaged in conducting audits, repairing primary and secondary equipment from the transmission network, conducting preventive measurements, troubleshooting electrical installations, providing services and micro-manufacturing electrical equipment.
- Formenerg - organization of training events for energy sector employees. The company was established on April 1, 2002 as a subsidiary of Transelectrica.
- Teletrans - the company was founded in January 2003, is engaged in providing information and communication services necessary for the management of electric networks.
- Icemenerg (Institutul de Cercetări și Modernizări Energetice) - in accordance with Decree No. 1065/2003 related to the reorganization of Transelectrica and Icemenrg through the merger of both companies, the reorganization of Icemenerg as a subsidiary of Transelectrica was approved. It provides services in the field of servicing thermal power plants, electrical substations and networks. It was reorganized in September 2010 in coordination with the Ministry of Economy of Romania [4] [5] .
- Icemenrg Service - in 2004, following a government decision to reorganize the Transelectrica National Electricity Company and the Icemenerg Service, the latter became a subsidiary of Transelectrica.
Indicators
- The number of employees was 2150 in 2006 [6] and 2197 in 2011.
- Capitalization amounted to about 613 million euros as of November 2007 [7] [8] [8] [9] . The volume of capitalization in 2011 amounted to 2.46 billion Romanian lei, which is equivalent to approximately 0.56 billion euros [2] . The management of the company suggested that shareholders distribute dividends in the amount of 80.6 million lei (18.4 million euros), which is nine times higher than the profit at the end of 2010 [10] .
- In 2009, Icemenerg's turnover amounted to 9.3 million lei, net profit - 1.16 million lei [5] .
Scandals
In July 2014, the Accounts Chamber of Romania discovered damage in the amount of 132.2 million lei caused to the property of Transelectrica. Most of the money - 80.1 million lei - are unaccounted debts from the execution of contracts for energy transactions, which were not provided with financial guarantees [11] .
