Oleg Yuryevich Klimov (born February 27, 1953 , Yaransk , Kirov Region ) is a Russian historian , a specialist in the history and culture of the ancient world , especially in the Hellenistic era. Doctor of Historical Sciences (2002), professor at St. Petersburg University and his head of the Department of the History of Ancient Greece and Rome [1] , formerly vice-rector of the Murmansk State Pedagogical University (1991-2004).

Biography
The son of the Murmansk historian Yu. N. Klimov (1919-1992) [2] .
He graduated from the Murmansk State Pedagogical University (1974) and graduate school in the Department of the History of Ancient Greece and Rome, Leningrad State University (1982), in the latter he defended his dissertation “Policy in the Hellenistic State System (based on the materials of the Kingdom of Pergamon”) (1983) and the doctoral dissertation “Pergamum” kingdom: problems of political history and state structure ”(2001). In the years 1974-75. He served in the army, in 1976-1978. at the Komsomol work. Since 1978, Alma Mater (now Murmansk Arctic State University ) has gone from assistant to vice-rector (for scientific work in 1991-1992, for economic issues and international relations in 1992-2001, for international relations - since 2001 years), taught the history of the ancient world and archeology, in 2003-2004. Head of the Department of World History [3] . In 2004, he moved to St. Petersburg, from the same year, Vice-Rector of the Humanitarian University of Trade Unions [2] . Since 2007, professor at the Department of the History of Ancient Greece and Rome, Faculty of History, St. Petersburg State University, now head of the Department of History of Ancient Greece and Rome.

Wife - Tatyana Klimova (Kogteva), also a graduate of the Murmansk State Pedagogical Institute, two sons [2] three grandchildren and a granddaughter.
He is the author of more than 130 scientific works, including two monographs, chapters in four collective monographs, and scientific articles. In collaboration with V.A. Zemlyanitsyn and V.V. Noskov, the author of a section on the history of the ancient world in a schoolbook on general history for grade 10 edited by academician V.S. Myasnikov (M., 2010; reprint. M., 2013; M. 2016; M., 2018).
