Biography

Born into a Jewish family. More than 10 years as a player, he played for clubs of the first and second leagues and physical education teams representing the Lithuanian and Latvian SSR . At the level of masters, he played for Bangu (Kaunas, first league ), Granitas (Klaipeda, second league ), Zveinieks (Liepaja, second league), also was listed as part of Vilnius Spartak .

In 1970, he began his coaching career. In the 1970s he coached Bangu (Gargzdai). From 1978 until the collapse of the USSR, he headed the Klaipeda Granitas , with this club he became the four-time winner of the Lithuanian SSR Championship (1978, 1980, 1981, 1984) and the four-time winner of the Republic Cup (1977, 1981, 1983, 1986).

Since 1991, he worked with clubs of the independent championship of Lithuania - in 1991 he headed “Granitas” (merged into one club with “ Atlantas ”). In 1992 he coached the Vilnius “Lietuvos Maccabi”, soon renamed “Neris”, and won the 1992 Lithuanian Cup with this club. In 1993 he headed “ ROMAR ” (Mazeikiai), with whom he became the champion of Lithuania in the 1993/94 season. At the end of his career he coached “ Kareda-Sakalas ” and “ Atlantas ”. Then, until 2002, he worked as a children's coach.

Considering the Soviet period, it is considered the most successful coach of Lithuania with 5 champion titles and 5 national cups.

Among his pupils are Rimantas Skersis, Marius Poškus , Thomas юyukas, Arunas каujka, Saulius Atmanavičius.

Personal life

Wife Margarita, daughters Angelica and Victoria.

He died on April 5, 2018 at the 80th year of his life [1] .
