Puji ( Chinese . 子 市 ) is a city in Taiwan located in Chiayi County . The area of the city is 49.57 km². The population is 42.333 people.

History
The settlement was formerly called Pho-a-kha Chinese. 樸 仔 腳 ( Pevedzi : Phoh-á-kha) in the Hokkien dialect of the South Ming dialect of Chinese. In 1920, during Japanese rule , it was renamed the village of Bokushi (朴子 街), located in Toseki County, Tainan Prefecture.
After Japan transferred Taiwan to the Chinese Republic in October 1945, the city of Puji was incorporated into Tainan County. On December 11, 1945, the Bureau of the Puzzi Village was established. In October 1950, the government of Chiayi County was created and the village of Puji was included in Chiayi County . On July 1, 1992, the village of Puzzi was elevated to the city of county subordination. [2]
