Geography
The village is located on the banks of the river Pogarcy (a tributary of the Ilevna ) 4 km south from the center of the village of Kovarditsy and 6 km west of Murom .
History
The village of Makarovo was first mentioned in the salary books of the Ryazan diocese of 1676 as part of the Kovarditsky parish , it contained a landlord’s yard, a peasant’s yard and a backyard servant’s yard [2] .
In the late XIX - early XX centuries, on the site of the present village, there were 2 settlements Makarovo Bolshoi and Makarovo Sredny , located on the right bank of the Pogartsi river. Both villages were part of the Kovarditsky volost of the Murom district , since 1926 - as part of the Murom volost . In 1859 [3] in the village of Makarovo the Bolshoi there were 15 yards, in 1905 [4] - 44 yards, in 1926 [5] - 66 yards.
Since 1929, the village was the center of the Bolshe-Makarovsky village council of the Murom region , since 1940 - as part of the Striginsky village council , since 2005 - as part of the Kovarditsky rural settlement .
